HOW TO GET TO MINSK

ACCESS BY AIR

National airport "Minsk" is the main air gateway to the Republic of Belarus. Today, regular flights are carried out on more than 20 international air routes to Western Europe. There are insurance companies, bank branches, ATMs, information and reference terminals on tourism opportunities in Minsk, restaurants, bars, cafes, shops, room mother and baby, hair salon, shoe repair shops and clothing, hotel, developed system of transportation services for passenger service at the airport National airport "Minsk" is 42 km from center of Minsk .You can quickly get to the airport by public transport or taxi, or on the private car.

Bus route number 300Э goes from bus station "Tsentralnyi" from 5:05 am. You can refine schedule by phone 114 (a single reference bus stations).If you go to the National airport "Minsk" by car you should drive on Moscow highway - route M2. The distance from Minsk Ring Road to the National Airport is 33, 1 km long.

One of the most convenient ways to get to Minsk is by train. At the end of 2000 a new railway station building was opened, conveniently located in the city center. The modern design of the building of glass and steel fit into the style of the old square quite successfully . The building of the Minsk railway station is shaped like a huge ship. There are waiting rooms, ticket halls, cafes, coffee shops, restaurants, shops, post office, telegraph office, VIP-hall, conference room and a children's amusement park.

 

ACCESS BY CAR

It’s possible to travel to Belarus by car from Europe and the CIS.  Minsk is connected to the European long-distance highway E30. It’s a toll road, with a 1USD charge for passenger vehicles. There are several Belarus border crossings and an extensive road network running across the country. Access from Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Russia.

 

THE MAIN MINSK SIGHTS & ATTRACTIONS

  1. The Holy Spirit cathedral

  3. The history of the Cathedral dates back to 1633-1642. It is a valuable monument of late Baroque style of Old Minsk. Six columns divide the inner room into three naves. The iconostasis has a number of marvelous icons including the Our Lady miracle-working icon that miraculously appeared on the Svisloch bank in 1500.

  2. The National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre

  4. It was opened in 1933. Nowadays there are more than 30 titles of dramatic works on the poster of the theatre, the most popular of them are: “Carmen”, “Eugene Onegin”, “Swan Lake”, “Rigoletto”, “Romeo& Juliet”, all of them are well staged with rich decorations and eye-catching costumes. We can assure you’ll get an unforgettable impression after those excellent opera or ballet performance!

  1. Troitskoe suburb

(The “Old Town” in the 19th century style). This historical and cultural part of Minsk survived after the destroying World War 2. Here you may admire the Svisloch River, walk down the cobbled streets and enjoy a cup of hot tea or coffee in one of the little cafes. It’s a great and lovely place to walk and relax in any season of the year.

 

 

 

The National Library

Is considered to be the most significant tourist attraction and the main information and cultural centre of the country and Minsk city, one of the most important and controversial projects in the modern Belarus. A 72-meter (236 feet) high, 23-storey building in the shape of a diamond symbolizes material and spiritual values gathered by the humanity during thousands of years.

“Water Park “Lebyazy”

     

It is one of the largest water parks in CIS-countries and the fifth in size in Europe. It is situated in a prestige ecologically-sound district of Minsk on a landscape shore of Drozdy storage reservoir near an exceptional land – biological nature reserve “Lebyazhy”. Virtually, a wonderful forest fairy-tale created by a man and Nature is stretching in a couple of kilometers from the city center!

Сomplex “Lebyazhy” offers their visitors the following: a “Territory of SPA” center,  park of water entertainments, water zone with the pools, family amusement center “KaZki” for children with a lot of labyrinths, 5D cinema, food courts, game campus “Konfiland” for little children, merry-go-rounds, musical theater and “Electronic musicians” attraction, fitness-center and gym, bars and fast food restaurants of Australian trend “Country Chicken”.

Museum of the Great Patriotic War

Founded at September 30, 1943. The new building of the museum in conjunction with the obelisk "Minsk - Hero City" is a single architectural ensemble. The main facade of the museum building is designed as a symbolic victory salute rays. The museum in the architectural plan consists of 4 blocks on the number of years of war. Blocks combines exposition gallery "road of war".
The museum has 10 exhibition halls and the Victory Hall (located under a glass dome).

  • State Flag Square in Minsk

During the opening ceremony of the Square there was laid a tradition to take an oath of allegiance to the State flag of Belarus. On the opening day outstanding people of Belarus took an oath: veterans, talented students, athletes and others. It is planned to use the Square for events on the Day of the State Emblem and Flag of Belarus, during the civil-patriotic events and visits of foreign delegations to Minsk. In addition, State Flag Square in Minsk is on the list of the sights, recommended for visiting by the tourists who come to Minsk.

 

 

The Palace of Independence

The total area of the Palace of Independence is about 50 thousand square meters. It has several hundred rooms.

On October 24, 2013 there was held a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council at the level of Heads of State, and on October 25 - a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS.

Palace took part in the competition of construction achievements of Minsk, 2013.

On February 25, 2014 at the Palace the President of  Belarus Alexander Lukashenko awarded the three-time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva the Medal of the Hero of Belarus, the Medal of the Fatherland  of the first degree to the coach of the Belarusian freestyle team Nicholai Kozeko, the Medal of the Fatherland  of the third degree to Anton Kushnir, Alla Tsuper, Nadezhda Scardino.
